Thermal transfer printers are specifically designed to print bar codes using heat to transfer ink from a ribbon to a label. Ribbons consist of an array of wax/resin combinations to meet all indoor and outdoor conditions. Available print media ranges from simple coated paper to heavy-duty synthetics. The industrial class of printers vary from the all-plastic "occasional" models on up to all-metal work-horses, designed to print barcode labels, high speed applications, unique forms, ticketing/tagging, etc., 24 hours a day.
